Teacher Appreciation

My youngest grandson will be graduating kindergarten in a few days. He has really done well! This card is made for his teacher. The card is 5 x 6 1/2 from a Recollections pack. I used two different papers for the background that I have had for quite some time. The top border is from a chalk board looking paper. The corkboard paper had the yellow and blue mat blocks and I cut the paper to take advantage of those blocks.

Cricut cartridges:
A Child's Year - Apple/silhouette is on page 49 and cut at 2 1/2 inches.
Simply Sweet - Phrase "thank you" is on page 74 and cut at 2 1/2 inches. I thought the style of the letters would be good on this card.  Letter "a" on page 32 cut 3/4 inch; letter "b" on page 33 cut 3/4 inch; letter c on page 34 cut 3/4 inch.
Simply Charmed - Pencil on page 53 cut 2 inches

Cuttlebug Folder:
Measure by Measure - Numbers on the chalkboard mat

Challenges:
Fantabulous Cricut - Teacher Feature- card or project for a teacher and use red on it
BBTB2 - Apple core from Preserves cartridge. You can use any apple core or apple from any cart if you do not have Preserves. I do not have that cartridge.
Throwback Thursday Challenge -- Use Doodlecharms (or an older cartridge if you do not have Doodlecharms) and color blue somewhere. I used A Child's Year and Simply Sweet.
Hope you enjoy!

Paper Playtime Ch# 45 Tall Card

Hope all Mothers had a fantastic Mother's Day! Thanks for stopping by today! I want to say thank you to my new followers!
Today I am sharing the card that I made for my Mom. This week begins a new challenge at Paper Playtime with the challenge team. Our challenge is to make a tall card with any themes or colors. For optional challenge, use your Cricut if you have one. Tall cards are 9" x 8" and scored at 4 inches.
As you see, I turned my card. After cutting and scoring, I embossed each side with the Swiss Dots folder. Using Martha Stewart scoreboard, I scored four lines on each side. My white mat is cut using the Martha Stewart French Scroll edge punch and corner punch. I used Cricut Mother's Day 2010 for the word Mother. Word and shadow are cut at 2 inches. For the flowers, I used the Martha Stewart Embossed Daisy Pop-up punch. My friend Joy at Purtty Paperz has been using Memory Thread with buttons on her lovely cards. I like the look of the curls and I was so happy to find the product at Michael's. Thanks Joy for sharing the info! Buttons are from my stash and the pink memory thread is from my new stash!! I did not take a photo of the inside of my card, but for the sentiment I used "You Are So Special". The phrase is on page 38 on Wild Card cartridge. Sorry, I did not record size.
Just a note: The thread (actually a fiber wrapped wire) is a DMC product, called Color Infusions Memory Thread. It is located near the DMC embroidery thread at the Michael's where I shop.

Now it is your turn to make a Tall card and join in the fun with us! For inspiration, please visit the Design Team members' blogs. You can reach their blogs from Paper Playtime home page! You have until Saturday May 21 to submit your card!

Hope you enjoy my card! Thanks for your comments!
